Unit2 My Favourite Season

Teaching aims:
1. Enable Ss to master four-skill words: season, spring, summer, fall, winter.
2. Enable Ss to master the sentence pattern: What’s your favourite season?
3. Enable Ss to master the chant.

Teaching procedures:
Step1. Warm-up/ Revision
1. Free talk: What day is it today? What’s the weather like today? It’s____.
What season is it now? What about the next season? ( weather, activity )
2. Show Ss some pictures and talk about the weather, review the words: warm, hot, cool, cold, sunny, windy, cloudy, rainy, ….
Step2. Presentation
Let’s learn
1. T describes, let Ss guess “ What season is it?” , teach the season:
warm, green trees, fly kites ---- What season is it? ---- It’s spring.
very hot, go swimming---- What season is it? ---- It’s summer.
cool, yellow leaves ---- What season is it? ---- It’s fall. (Why?---- the falling leaves) (=autumn).
very cold, white snow ---- What season is it? ---- It’s winter.
Interview freely: Do you like spring/ summer/ fall/ winter?
2. Learn to say and spell the words about seasons: spring/ summer/ fall/ winter. ( read after T---- read together---- ask S to read )
4. T: There are four seasons in a year, what are they?---- spring, summer, fall and winter. Please remember the order about the seasons.
Game: T says one season, Ss say the next season quickly.
e.g. A: spring, spring B: summer, summer A: summer, summer
B: fall, fall
A: spring, spring B: summer, summer A: fall, fall B: winter, winter.
A: summer, summer B: fall, fall A: spring, spring B: summer,summer.
A: spring, spring, summer B: summer, summer, fall
Ask S to say the order of the 4 seasons.
5. Try to describe: Spring is warm. Summer is hot. Fall is cool. Winter is cold. Spring is green. Summer is red. Fall is yellow/ golden. Winter is white.
6. Spell the words: spell 3 times after T, ask S to spell, spell together, ask S to spell all the words.

Step3. Activity
Let’s chant
1) Ask S to try to read the chant. ( explain )
2) Listen to the chant and learn: with, day, golden, busy, gone.
3) Try to say the chant follow the tape. ( fluently, tone)
4) Say the chant together/ in groups.

1. Fill in the blanks and talk about the different weather in the different place.
2. T: Among the four seasons, my favourite season is fall. Because the fall is not too cold and not too hot. I can also eat many delicious fruits. The most important thing is that my birthday is in fall. Can you tell me: What’s your favourite season?
