Unit 5  How much is it?

1  A Let’s learn  Let’s chant 

Teaching aims:

1.     Master the words: colorful pretty cheap and expensive and be able to express freely.

2.     Learn to say the chant.

3.     Master the dialogues: How much is it? It’s …yuan.

I.P: Master the expressions and the words.

Listen and do out the actions quickly.

D.P: Some difficult words: expensive and cheap

Teaching aids: CAI, picture, tape money for the Ss.

Teaching procedures:

Step1. Warm-up/ Revision

1.     Free talk: What’s the weather like today? What can we wear today?

            ( It’s warm/ little hot/ cool/ sunny/…)

            Today is warm. I wear a sweater. It’s ___.

What color is your sweater/ jacket/ shirt…?

            Do you like (color)?  Do you like the (color) sweater/ jacket/shirt…? ( S---- freely)

 

Step2. Presentation

1. T: It’s warmer and warmer. I want to buy a new dress.

    Look, I have some money. (show the money):100 —200 ---300, I have 300 yuan, I want to buy a new dress. Let’s go shopping.

2. T: Look at this dress. Oh, it’s very beautiful. Do you think so? Can you tell me: what color can you see? ---- red, green, yellow, …, oh, so many colors, it’s colorful.

   Teach: colorful (train practice)

  Read after T: colorful, it’s colorful, it’s a colorful dress. Do you like it? ( ask S freely)

3. T: I like the colorful dress very much, I want to buy it. How much is it? ( show the price): Wow. It’s 1000 yuan.---- It’s too expensive( Do you think so?), I don’t have enough money. I only have 300 yuan.

   Teach: expensive (train practice) 

   Read after T: expensive, it’s expensive, it’s too expensive.

   ---- This dress is colorful. But it’s too expensive. I can’t buy it.

CAI: Wow, It’s beautiful.   It’s too \so expensive.  Let’s go to another shop.

4. T: How about this red dress? Do you know: How much is it? hint: It’s 30 yuan? Now please guess ---- Ss guess freely. ( T: maybe)  ---- let’s have a look (show the price): 65 ----How much is it? It’s 65 yuan. ---- Is it expensive? No, it’s cheap. Compare cheap and expensive.

   Teach: cheap (train practice)

   Read after T: cheap, it’s cheap, it’s a cheap dress.

   ---- It’s cheap. But I don’t like the color (red). I like purple.

5. Show other one: Look at that purple dress, how do you think of it? It’s beautiful, it’s pretty. beautiful, pretty, beautiful, pretty.

Show: pretty= beautiful

  Teach: pretty (train practice)

  Read after T: beautiful, it’s beautiful, pretty, it’s pretty, it’s a pretty dress.

6. T: I like the pretty dress.  How much is it? Is it cheap or expensive? Let’s have a look---- show the price: 400, I think it’s expensive. Do you think so?  What a pity! I only have 300 yuan.  -----( But May Day is coming. The price is 80% off) – How much is it now? 80 ( it’s only 80 yuan) ----400--80 it’s very cheap, do you think so?

  ---- T: This dress is pretty and cheap. I want to buy it.

7. T: Let’s see more clothes. Show 4 kinds of clothes, let Ss try to describe:

1) What’s this? ---- shirt, T-shirt, skirt.

2) T describes one: Look at this shirt, it’s big and old. I don’t like it. Do you like it? Can you describe others?

One by one.

Read after T: colorful/ pretty/ old/ new/ big/ small/ long/ short/ good/ nice/ cool …

3) Point to the clothes, let S describe: Now, please look at the T-shirt. Can you talk about it? Describe it: It’s ___ and ___.  ( Do you like it? ) I like it./ I don’t like it.

8. 4 kinds of clothes(The big shirt/ new T-shirt/ colorful T-shirt/ pretty skirt.) , Q: Can you guess: How much is it? Ss guess freely, T give the hint: up &down---- show: 25, 150, 68, 320, try to say: It’s cheap/ expensive (very / too) ( I think ___. Do you think so? )

 

Step3. Activity

1.     Let’s chant

1)    Read by self.

2)    Ask S1 to read, read after S2.

3)    Listen.

4)    Try to say follow the tape.

5)    Say together. ( A/ B)

2.     Show the main sentences:

A( assistant): Look at the ___. It’s ___. ( colorful/ pretty/ old/ new/ good/ nice/ cool/…)

B( customer): How much is it?

A: It’s ___yuan.

B: It’s cheap/ expensive. I want/ take it.

( Try to read by self---- Ask S to read ( explain) ---- Read after T.)

3.     Practice in 4: Sale and Buy

1)    T ( class): Hello, boys and girls. Look at this pencil, it’s colorful, do you like it? Do you want to buy it? Please ask me: How much is it? (hint)  several Ss: How much is it?  T: It’s ___yuan. Expensive or cheap?

---- Oh, your pencil is good, how much is it? It’s expensive( down, down) I will buy it.

2)    Take out the stationary and money, sale and buy: How much is it? It’s____ yuan. ( up& down)

3)    Ask S to the front to sale: Look at the ___, it’s ___.

Others ask: How much is it?

Bargain: Look at the … ----How much is it?  It’s … Yuan. Oh, It’s too expensive. …..

Board:

It’s colourful and pretty.

It’s colourful and cheap.

                                                                

It’s pretty and cheap.
